New faces

Sarah Feldmann (née Ludwig) joined our group as a PhD student during the year 2022. Sarah will work on inverse graph theoretical problems, namely the source detection problem. Welcome!

Completion of theses

There were no completed PhD projects in the MathOpt group in 2022. Sebastian served as a reviewer for Felix Bestehorn's dissertation Combinatorial algorithms and complexity of rounding problems arising in Mixed-Integer Optimal Control at the TU Braunschweig. Also only one Master thesis was successfully defended by Meret Behrens (Optimierung eines urbanen Verkehrsknotens - Analyse des Einflusses einer zusätzlichen Rechtsabbiegerspur auf den Verkehrsfluss).

Excellence initiative

We intensified our efforts to organize a cluster of excellence in Magdeburg: the SmartProSys initiative. Many important decisions were made in an intensive coordination meeting in Barby.

Conferences and social events

On March 25, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the MathOpt group in Magdeburg in the Nordpark.

The annual colloquium of MathCoRe took place in Thale.

On June 22 we organized a summer party for the FMA.

Our christmas party, again in Il Capitello.
